  • Species-specific food is animals’ evolutionary history and most beneficial for vitality and longevity. Switching to biologically food has been found time after time to settle many health conditions. Fresh, raw food is ideal whenever possible. One of the main causes of kidney disease in cats and dogs is processed food. See 'Food' under the 'Discover' tab for more information.
  • A recent study by the Clean Label Project revealed:
    • Heavy Metals: Dry dog food contained 12.7 times more lead and 5.7 times more arsenic than human food benchmarks, with levels 3 to 13 times higher than previously tested human products.
    • Other Contaminants: High levels of acrylamide (a compound linked to cancer in animal studies) and plastic-related chemicals like DEHP were detected, particularly in dry foods.
    • Safety Concerns: Experts note that heavy metals accumulate in the liver and kidneys and have been linked to cancer, which affects 1 in 4 animals.

Food

  • Many cancers and other diseases are associated with heavy metals & parasites.

  • When heavy metals are in the body, parasites increase acting as a biological cleanup system to protect the animal or person from organ toxicity. The metals disable T-cells and macrophages that keep parasites in check. Parasites are a normal part of the body's ecosystem. Out of balance, they cause problems. This is also connected with biofilms.

  • Heavy metals are in vaccines, pharmaceuticals, water, soil, rain, chemtrails, food, supplements, household items, technology, air contamination from industrial fallout, fracking wastewater and other environmental & atmospheric sources. They are real, measurable and contribute to the parasite load, immune suppression, and disease states.

  • Corticosteriods: Prednisone, Prednisolone, Dexamethasone, Hydrocortisone, Triamcinolon are a cause of Cushing's in dogs.

  • Pituitary tumors are the cause of Cushings in 85-90% of dogs. Adrenal gland tumors account for the other 10-15%.

    • Cadmium & arsenic:

      • Cadmium damages the body's natural "brake system" for stress, causing cortisol levels to stay permanently high, which overworks and enlarges the pituitary gland until a tumor forms.

      • It tricks the pituitary gland into growing tumors by mimicking the hormone estrogen, which falsely signals specific cells to multiply uncontrollably.

      • Cadmium and metals like arsenic are endocrine disruptors. Proper studies have not been done on dogs but there is a direct cause between cadmium & pituitary tumors in rats.

      • Arsenic also elevates cortisol and damages the pituitary gland by disrupting hormone signaling and causing oxidative stress.

      • Lead, mercury, and nickel also act like cadmium and arsenic by accumulating in the pituitary gland, disrupting cortisol regulation, and altering hormone secretion.

      • Cadmium and arsenic are proven to damage adrenal tissue and disrupt cortisol regulation in lab studies, directly causing adrenal gland tumors (specifically adenomas and pheochromocytomas), while arsenic and nickel have also been proven to induce adrenal tumors in rodents through mechanisms involving oxidative stress, DNA damage, and disruption of cortisol regulation.

  • Up to 24 metals can be in one drug. An animal or person on medications is receiving multiple micro-doses of lead, arsenic, mercury, and cadmium and other contaminants on top of other exposure.

  • Herbal medicines & supplements are said to have higher contamination rates than synthetic drugs, with 30.51% of samples exceeding at least one metal limit. Heavy metal contamination in herbal medicines is a "global problem".

  • Heavy metals are also permitted in food, with no enforceable limits for most everything animals & people take in.

  • Proper testing is not done.

  • Heavy metals & associated disease states: https://goldenageanimal.care/heavy-metals-and-disease-states

  • Heavy metals also increase inflammation, suppress the immune system, cause DNA damage and mutations, and mimic estrogens driving hormone-sensitive cancers, among many other things. Information is available on what cancers have been connected to specific metals.

  • In addition to cancer, it can look like depression, anxiety, kidney failure, diabetes, seizures, dementia, arthritis, hemolytic anemia, bleeding disorders, melanoma, ulcers, cataracts, skin disease, heart disease, autoimmune disease, endocrine disruption and more.

  • Cancers that have been associated with parasites (animals, people) include but are not limited to:

    • Dogs: Anal sac adenocarcinoma, bladder, bone (osteosarcoma), brain (glioblastoma), breast, cutaneous lymphoma (epithelioltropic), fibrosarcoma, hemangiosarcoma, histiocytic sarcoma, kidney, liver, lymphoma, melanoma, nasal tumors, oral squamous cell, osteosarcoma (bone), prostate, soft tissue sarcoma, thyroid, transmissible venereal tumor

    • Cats: Bone, hemangiosarcoma, injection site sarcoma (fibrosarcoma), lung, lymphoma, mammary, mast cell tumors, oral squamous cell. Worth noting with injection site sarcoma common in cats:

      • "Given fenbendazole’s proven efficacy against fibrosarcomas and soft tissue sarcomas in dogs, it is logically applied to feline injection-site sarcomas.

      • Bloodroot paste (cansema), cured a cat with injection site sarcoma. See 'Cansema' above.

    • Horses: Swamp, gastric squamous cell carcinoma, liver.

The 2023 Infectious Agents and Cancer review of cancerogenic parasites in veterinary medicine did not list a horse-specific parasite-cancer pair beyond the gastric Habronema association, suggesting this is an understudied area in equine oncology

    • People: Adrenal cortical carcinoma, bile duct, bladder, bone, brain, colorectal, esophageal, head & neck, kidney (renal cell), leukemia, liver, lymphoma, mast cell, melanoma, multiple myeloma, pancreatic, prostate, skin, stomach, sarcoma, thyroid, urinary tract.

A summary of what has been found in tap and well water:

Filtration like Reverse Osmosis or the Berkey (also removes fluoride) can help reduce heavy metals & contaminants.

Body, Environment, Home

As many natural resources are beneficial for health and longevity, many unnatural sources can adversely affect animal well being. Nicola Richardson of Animals Mind, Body Spirit, covers the topic well. Animals, like people, are as exposed with perhaps less ability to detoxify. Even something as simple as lighting a candle affects an animal in ways we don't realize. The list is to highlight, not overburden, in the case a guardian would want to know. It is comprehensive, but covers things that might otherwise be overlooked. https://animalsbodymindspirit.com/toxicity-natural-healing/?highlight=microchip

An example of what is covered:

  • Microchips

  • EMF (phones, routers, Smart meters, powerlines, etc.)

  • Bedding

  • Flea treatements

  • Grooming Products

  • Toys

  • Water

  • Carpet, Furniture

  • Others

  • Covered on the site are also food and water.

"Dogs experience stress that we may not think about, being alone all day, those who travel & compete, living in a toxic environment, city with high pollution, near farms that use toxic chemicals. The immune and nervous systems work together. Stress is a silent killer often overlooked, and, our stress is their stress. Let's keep this in mind."
